Cleaning Tips
Introduction
We all want our homes to look their very best. Sitting down to a freshly cleaned home is a wonderful feeling. However, it is often difficult to know where to even begin as chores accumulate around us over time. Do not fear, there is no need to get overwhelmed. The best thing to do is get organised and break the whole project down to smaller, achievable tasks. Once you have tackled one, the next will come more easily and in no time, you will realise that your home is sparkling from top to bottom. A tidy home is a happy home, and you’ll soon be able to sit back and relax knowing that everything is looking good. Follow our tips below to see how small tasks can make a big difference.
Cleaning Tips:
Organise Any Clutter
It can be daunting to set out on your first cleaning task. The best thing to do is clear up floor space and tidy away surfaces. Plenty of disorganisation can build up over time so reach for some storage containers and just start pulling whatever is out of place. Stack these objects neatly into your storage and you will already begin to feel your head clear, as well as your floors. Things that you use regularly can be stored in nice, bright aesthetic containers that seamlessly fit in with your décor. Other items that may not be needed for a long time, can be packed into bulkier containers and stored in your attic or garage. Also, don’t be afraid to get the rubbish bin for anything that you truly know will never be used. Alternatively, drop your storage containers off at the charity shop if items can be used by somebody new.
Start a Load of Laundry
Once you’ve cleared some space, you may find that the main things that are still left behind are articles of clothing. We all have busy households, and sports gear, active wear, jumpers and jackets might all be hanging around in the most unlikely of places. It’s always good to get a load of laundry together and stick it on. This will further clear more space and you can feel happy taking on your other tasks knowing that the clothes are also being taken care of at the same time. This will increase efficiency and give you an added boost to get to the next task.
Wiping Down, Sweeping and Mopping
So now your space is cleared. It’s time to get to cleaning down those newly revealed surfaces. This can be quick, effortless and easy. Get your detergent onto your cloth and wipe out the sink, counters, tables, appliances and anything else you see that might need some tending to. You may need a stronger stain remover for the likes of grease but with the right cleaning materials, these can be gotten rid of in an instant. After wiping everything down, you will need to get your trusty sweeping brush and tidy up any dust or dirt that has arisen. Then get your mop and bucket, and let everything sparkle with some floor cleaner.
Brighten Up Your Bathroom
Squirt some bathroom cleaner onto whatever needs cleaning and allow it to soak in for a minute or two. In the meantime, you can grab any towels that may need refreshing and pop them into your laundry basket. Tackle each element one piece at a time. In whatever order you prefer, get wiping your sink, shower or bath, mirror and toilet. This alone might be just what your bathroom needs. However, you can always go one step further and grab some grout or limescale cleaner to provide that extra layer of protection and ensure your walls and fittings are looking their best. Another quick sweep and mop to this room and you’ll be done in no time. You might like to place your favourite reed diffuser on a shelf or window sill as a fragrant finishing touch.
Give Your Living Area a Lift
Do a quick pickup of everything in your living room and place them to one side for the moment. Grab a cloth or duster and give the room a quick dust down. You may need leather wipes for your couches or glass cleaning cloths for coffee tables. Then it’s time to vacuum around the room, ensuring you get into those hard to reach places. If you want to go the extra mile, you could use wooden floor cleaner or carpet cleaner depending on what you’ve got in your room. Once all surfaces are gleaming, you can rearrange everything you put aside at the start. If you have throws put them back in place and plump up your cushions. Light a candle to provide a fresh scent and create a cosy atmosphere.
By following all these quick and easy steps, your home will really look the part. Don’t fret if you don’t get each task completed. You will still be able to pick up where you left off anytime. Once each room becomes that little bit tidier, you too will become more relaxed as you take in your fresh surroundings.
So get busy, get cleaning and you’ll be ready to enjoy your newly organised space in no time at all. There’s no place like a happy home.
